• Marine MegaStore and Lewmar do appear to be taking the hatch leak very seriously - I am informed it is a very rare occurence. I've done a temporary fix which has restored water-tightness for now. The problem revolves around the tension on the friction hinge which increases in cold weather (I'm guessing there's a viscous element to its function). This places extra stress on the joint where the hinge fastens to the lens and - in my case anyway - has led to enough pressure on the joint to result in the deformation of a crucial gasket.

The friction hinge is adjustable for pre-load but the manufacturer's instructions do not advocate messing around unecessarily. Though I was aware the hinge was tighter over the winter trips the force required to open and close the hatch did not seem excessive. On reflection I should probably have reduced the tension.

    More to follow...

Tweaks and fixes are an ongoing part of the project. This series of pages form a blog - of sorts - and is intended to give a flavour of the day-to-day realities of living with the truck as issues crop up and tweaks and fixes progress. Many of the posts eventually end up getting written up properly and included in the main body of the Trip Truck site; so if you think you have read any of the older posts somewhere else, you almost certainly have.
