• Marine Megastore and Lewmar came up trumps with some genuinely impressive customer service. It seems I was just plain unlucky and encountered a rogue hatch. Both companies seemed genuinely surprised that a leak had developed, especially as I'd been able to demonstrate that the installation was in accordance with instructions.

Anyway, yesterday, and without further ado, I received a brand new hatch and trim kit and I'll be putting these in as soon as we get a spell of dry and slightly warmer weather.

I could have made the existing hatch good with the supply of a few spare parts but it's a credit to Marine Megastore and Lewmar that they've made life easier by allowing a direct (and simple) replacement.

    Hats off to them.

PS Marine Megastore claim that they will give competitive deals on Lewmar hatches and trim kits to anyone else involved in an overlander build - email for a deal rather than buy online: marine_megastore@btinternet.com

Tweaks and fixes are an ongoing part of the project. This series of pages form a blog - of sorts - and is intended to give a flavour of the day-to-day realities of living with the truck as issues crop up and tweaks and fixes progress. Many of the posts eventually end up getting written up properly and included in the main body of the Trip Truck site; so if you think you have read any of the older posts somewhere else, you almost certainly have.
