As was always going to be necessary, today we drove about 300 miles across Sweden in pretty much one hit. We only stopped for diesel (cheapest of the trip at about £1.30 per litre) and for a quick lunch break.
Credit to the Swedes, the road network between Kapellskär and Gothenburg was spot on. It flowed flawlessly throughout, was relatively lightly trafficked, and was pretty much door-to-door.
There wasn't much to see or do and it was altogether a bit like an extrapolated version of being trundled through an IKEA on a long Sunday afternoon: albeit resulting in less tat as an outcome.
The only thing of interest was an unfortunate roadkill pine marten.
We're leaving Gothenburg now (pic) bound for Kiel. This now puts us pretty much back on the original itinerary, albeit one day behind our original plan.
We're so glad we went through Finland; we thoroughly enjoyed it, in spite being unwell. On the contrary, I'm afraid Sweden is - though great for mile-munching - somewhat less appealing than once it was.
