The last time we approached Kittilä in Finland (in 2016) the truck broke down. One of the unfit-for-purpose fuel delivery connectors started sucking air. This remains - so far - the one and only time that the truck could not keep chugging.
This time as we approached Kittilä in Finland, it's my turn. I awoke not long after going to bed last night with a fever, which pretty much put paid to any further sleep.
Come morning I was nauseous, had a really thick heads, was aching everywhere, couldn't control my temperature and had painful sinuses.
As a consequence we've only driven a couple of very slow hours today; at least the Finnish roads hereabouts are very quiet.
So, what was going to be a triumphant if brief return to Kittilä has turned out to an enforced stop. We're reluctant to press ahead in case tomorrow sees me needing a pharmacy or such like.
Kittilä it is, then. We're hunkered over in a decent enough spot but all I've done since getting here is doze and drink liquids. I'm going to try to eat something light and then go to bed.
At least a couple of inquisitive red squirrels have come to see what the fuss is about.
