We've spent the morning pottering very slowly and calling off at a few tourist attraction. We've covered enough ground to this point to start taking things a bit steadier. The morning hasn't been without some challenges though, such as squeezing (just) under the bridge in the pic.
We've seen a weird and eerie ancient pyramid compete with stone coffins, a couple of celebrated old and now disused railway viaducts, and, at the location shown, have enjoyed a well signed and informative trail telling of the tri-border history of Poland, Lithuania and Russia (in the form of Kaliningrad). The Russian boundary at the borders was very serious with high fencing and CCTV.
Part of the information at the trail was a description of the unique climate in this area of Poland. It confirms our weird huskies-and-lizards mix from yesterday. We discovered the summers are very short and hot (30°C today) and the winters long and cold (down to -35°C).
This very northeast corner has definitely been the most appealing part of the country we've seen so far.
