The grey and rain persisted all day and the top chunk of Lewis is pretty much blanket bog over fairly low-lying flat land. This is not a good combination for raising spirits so we've headed south again to a gem of an island that doesn't look much on OS mapping but on the ground is quite splendid. Welcome to Great Bernera. It seems to have escaped much of the tourist trail of Lewis and feels much more akin to the southern islands.

We're at the coordinates shown now and are enjoying good sea views, in spite of the drizzle (pic), and there's a nice secluded beach and the remnants of an iron-age village here that we'll have a look at as soon as the rain allows.
