Forgot to mention that I spotted my first quail yesterday morning whilst I was out with binoculars and Emma was out training. Saw it skulking in dense woodland scrub next to a meadow.
We managed to get out for a walk this morning, no wild boar, but we did see a crested tit and firecrests.
Right close to the Czech border now but stopped short to properly work out the best way in to reach first national park. It was a lucky decision as a violent storm instantly brought middle-of-night conditions and was literally blowing large branches off trees right in front of us just as we spotted a place to overnight. At least it cooled things after the insufferable heat of the past few days. It passed though and within an hour or so it was flat calm, everywhere was steaming like a sauna - so we did the only logical thing and went for a run...
