It took ages to clear East Germany thanks to two road closures but we saw some absolutely beautiful villages as a result. Everything in and around them is so clean and well maintained it puts the UK to shame. The whole community is clearly really proud of its area. All property and all communal areas are always just immaculate.
The Czech border was unmanned and the contrast with Germany obvious. Lots of tat stalls and casinos abound.
Pretty quickly into the first national park though which boasts the largest continuous woodland in Europe.
The scenery is exceptional and the park well used by locals. Every small settlement thronged with local tourists and loads of mountain bikers.
We're camped in the heart of it thanks to the truck earning its keep and getting to a spot impossible for normal motorhomes. Parking in designated car parks is banned between 21:00 & 06:00.
Lynx are supposed to be in the area so eyes peeled and all that...
