Iceland Trip - Day 15 - Iceland

N 64.00964°, W 18.99938°

We've just left Landmannalauger which was utterly spectacular. The colours of the mountains are something to behold. They are an ever-changing mix of red, brown, pink, grey, blue, and a startlingly bright green thanks to vast colonies of moss.

Throw in some gnarled and weird geological structures, fields of lichen, hot springs, steaming fumaroles, crystal clear rivers, snow patches and azure lakes and you start to get the picture.

Trouble is, it's (understandably) extremely  popular - timing a visit to dodge the crowds is a recommended strategy.

The rains came in as we spent a couple of hours on a hike around so unfortunately we have no pics that come even close to doing it justice. The best we can do is a 'distance' shot from our current location where we are coming down a bit with some hot chocolate whilst getting warmed and dry.

A search engine search of Landmannalauger should throw up some gob-smacking images.
